Goal Achievement Quote – Sep. 18, 2012

“If you want to be truly successful invest in yourself to get the knowledge you need to find your unique factor. When you find it and focus on it and persevere your success will blossom.”

Goal Achievement Quote – Aug. 20, 2012

“Every goal, every action, every thought, every feeling one experiences, whether it be consciously or unconsciously known, is an attempt to increase one’s level of peace of mind.”

You Built It. You Can Break It.

A Builder’s Lesson

How shall I a habit break?
As you did that habit make.
As you gathered, you must lose;
As you yielded, now refuse.

Thread by thread the strands we twist,
Till they bind us, neck and wrist.
Thread by thread the patient hand,
Must untwine, ere free we stand.

As we builded, stone by stone,
We must toil, unhelped, alone,
Till the wall is overthrown.

Goal Achievement Quote – July 4, 2012

“Every man is the architect of his own life. He builds it just the way he wants it. However, after he has built what he wants, he sometimes decides that he doesn’t like what he has built and looks for someone or something to blame instead of changing himself.”
—Sidney Madwed

Poetry, prose, and quotes often have different meanings or interpretations based on the reader’s life experiences. Below, I have offered my initial inference of what the words above mean to me. Please feel free to leave yours in the comments section so that other readers might realize a more diverse interpretation. (The context in which the words may have been originally presented, and by whom, are not the primary issues, just what the words might mean to us, or for us, individually, in the now.)

My interpretation of this quote: There is no one to blame but our self if we are not satisfied with the results we have attained so far in life. We are responsible for our choices. We, also, are the only ones who can change course and create more satisfactory results …if we’re willing to do what it takes.

Goal Achievement Quote – July 3, 2012

“Make a careful list of all things done to you that you abhorred. Don’t do them to others, ever. Make another list of things done for you that you loved. Do them for others, always.”
—Dee Hock

My interpretation of this quote: Do to others the things that you would like done, and not done, to yourself. It may help them feel good. It will definitely help you feel good. And, it’s good for your success to boot. People like to do business with people they like.

Goal Achievement Quote 4/17/12

“The most valuable life skill we can teach our children is how to set and achieve goals, because with this skill they will have the ability to achieve any and all of their dreams and aspirations in life.”

Grit

How much GRIT do you have? If you don’t have much…you won’t achieve much!

If you start out to do something—then DO it.
If you set a goal—ACHIEVE it.
If you have a plan—MAKE it happen.

GRIT is doing what you set out to do—regardless of the obstacles.

Sometimes winning in life doesn’t happen exactly as you planned it. Sometimes the most important win is internal, sometimes it’s external.

Sometimes what you think is a loss actually turns out to be a win …but only if you go “all in.” Sometimes when it’s all said and done, you might just amaze yourself. Sometimes, you’ll even AMAZE others. And that …is a WIN WIN!

Goal Achievement Quote 4/10/12

If we intend to leave a meaningful legacy when we’re gone, when it comes to people, we had better steer clear of the “tearing down” and be engaged in the “building up” while we’re still here.”

Distant Mile

BRIGHT HORIZONS

We should be glad for distant things,
For beauty ‘round the bend;
For highways that lead on and on
With never any end.

Be glad for goals just out of reach,
The challenge of a star,
The glory of a distant light
That beacons from afar.

For hopes and dreams are built on
That enchanted distant mile,
And far-off bright horizons
Make the road today worthwhile.
